Are you dreaming of a brighter, larger, more spacious home ? Look no further than this recent project, where we achieved a stunning transformation for a growing family. Let’s dive into the details of this exciting challenge and how we turned their vision into reality.
Ground Floor Large Rear Extension and Roof Extension- Brighton
Design Brief:
Our clients approached us with a clear vision: to extend their bungalow in Brighton by 6 meters to the rear, creating an open-plan kitchen/dining/living space flooded with natural light. They also desired a loft extension to accommodate three bedrooms, as the original building had only one bedroom in the roof. Additionally, a downstairs WC was a must-have for convenience. Building regulations compliance was paramount, and the client aimed to move in within four months, with full involvement in the project alongside chosen contractors.
“Through meticulous planning and innovative design , we transformed a humble bungalow in Brighton into a luminous sanctuary , seamlessly blending modern elegance with the charm of its surroundings “
Our design on the ground floor incorporated plenty of glazing, including large bi-fold doors and roof lantern to fill the space with natural light.
Planning and Design Process:
In August 2021, we obtained planning approval for the ground floor kitchen extension and roof extension, ensuring the design was in-line with planning policies and harmonised well on the existing street scene. We navigated the planning and building regulation processes, collaborated with structural engineers to bring the project to life while maintaining clear communication with the client every step of the way.
Key Features:
- Open Plan Living: The large rear extension created a fantastic open-plan family and entertainment hub, seamlessly connecting the indoors with the outdoors.
- Bi-fold Doors: The choice of bi-fold doors for the rear extension allows for easy access to the garden, perfect for hosting garden parties and enjoying fresh air in the summer months.
- Glass Lantern: An elegant aluminium-framed glass lantern to the roof adds a touch of sophistication, matching the interior design while flooding the space with even more natural light.
- High Contrast Bathroom: Pair brass accents with black and white elements
Planning Process:
We applied for planning permission for this project, which took approximately 14 weeks from design to approval. This ensured that the development complied with local planning policies and enhanced the property while adding value for the homeowners.
